My Dad just wanted to live in her house in Chicago and play Grandpa. But she put him in a nursing home.

They must have made her co-sign or they likely would not have taken him. She told me he still owed $10,000 at the nursing home when he passed. Medicare paid for the E.R.

Now she is dead so the nursing home is stuck. They cannot go after the house or anything else in her name. Likely that her husband was listed as co-owner of the property anyway.

I can just imagine the size of property taxes in Chicago now.

There was an empty lot next to a neighbor's house across the street. She told me they are building a modern two flat on it. I bet the rent will be sky high. It is likely that two-flat will cost over $200,000. Maybe they will have a garage out back also since parking on the street is at a premium. Parking meters are on the street up to the alley. The city has always got its hand in your pocket.

The local taxi here is shut down until September 7th since one of the drivers tested positive for Covid 19. Not sure if it might be the Delta variant. All of the taxis will be sanitized while they are shut down.

The Free Fair has been going on in town. It is free unless you buy ride tickets or spend money for food and bottled water. ;)
