What's the deal with that diesel pump? Diesel nozzles are bigger than unleaded nozzles so you can't insert it in a gasoline car. The gas station owes the dumb chick for repairs and towing. Whoever is servicing those pumps, owes the gas station. Goob is pretty strict about that shit. I think the composition of the seals is different also, at least they are for BioDiesel.

Yeah, everything is now. I thought this one was interesting because of the fuel nozzle issue. I didn't catch it right away. The smaller nozzles for unleaded came about in the 1974 (I think) model year when the goob mandated all cars had to have catalytic converters. Regular gasoline with tetraethyl lead wasn't phased out completely until some time in the 1980s. It kept people from putting regular gas in a smog car. The lead would attach to the catalyst rendering it inoperative if not outright plugging it or causing it to melt down.

Tetraethyl lead was added to motor fuels to boost the octane rating of gas, but it also acted as a lubricant for the valves and valve seats. Unleaded cars had to have induction hardened valve seats to prevent damage. I suppose that's why it took so long to phase regular gas out.

I'm not sure how the old-timey car nuts deal with that issue. You can buy over the counter octane boosters, but I doubt they have Tetraethyl lead in them, that shit is REALLY dangerous and toxic.

Fun fact: Gasoline in storage will lose about one octane point per month. That's why I use fuel stabilizer and get premium for my lawn stuff. Small engines a finicky enough without having to deal with bad gas. I wish I could get fuel without that bullshit ethanol in it. That shit's nasty for engines.

Whether or not the gas station should pay, it's not a big or expensive problem. Simply siphon the diesel and remaining gas, add a gallon of gas, and siphon again to remove all but traces of diesel. Then refill with gas. Even the second siphon is probably unnecessary because a small quantity (a quart per 10 gallons) of diesel in gasoline has negligible effect.

When my 3/8 acre yard got to be too much for me to do with my 30" Toro TimeMaster walk behind mower, I bought the Ryobi RM480e 38" to use in the spring four years ago. It was the only rider available that would fit through my walk gates in the yard (after modifying the discharge chute), and had a low enough center-of-gravity to hold the hill in my front yard. It's built like a brick shithaus and looks cool. All the gas riders were 42" or more. The beast is HEAVY, probably about a half ton because of the weight of the batteries under the seat. And expensive.

The first two years went OK, year three is when the batteries started going bad and couldn't make it through the whole job without an hour or two recharge at the halfway point. To replace the batteries would cost a bit over $1,000 and be about a three hour repair, so I split the yard up that year. Year four, this year, is when it got really interesting. About halfway through the first mowing, in my west side yard, it bricked. Everything went dead. When it stopped, it about threw me over the steering wheel, the drive wheels were locked up. It was about 50' from the garage and I couldn't budge it. I had to use my Sonoma and a log chain to drag it up near my garage (that's the drag part). So I had to get the Toro out of the shed to finish.

Upon inspection, the 125 amp bolt-in AMI main fuse was blown as was the 5 amp ATC control fuse. I had to order the 125A fuse through Rock Auto, the 5A was available at AutoZone. While waiting for parts, I negotiated the deal with Sling Blade (Jon) to cut the grass for 2 oz silver/whack with the Toro. My cost is about $18 in 2010 dollars, his current take is about $50 for an hour and a half.

OK, so I got the fuses and put them in. As soon as I turned the key on, the control display started flashing erratically and the rest of the smoke from the drive motor controller came out. Key off before I blew more fuses. The drive motor controller is about $300 and there's none in the country (Covi, chip shortage, China). My should-be girlfriend at Gardner One World Technologies Inc. in South Carolina told me they were expected in by 7 September 2021. They're not. I should call her today and see what the deal is, we always have fun on the phone, she's a nice gal.

I'm supposin' that the output of the drive motor controller is shorted, causing the drive motor to be acting like a generator which is why the unit won't roll (I hope). There's four black boxes in total, the main drive motor controller, two (one for each deck motor), and a DC to DC converter. I don't know how to test the motor, I can't get any specs on it. I want to get the controller, see if I can at least get the brick mobile, then go from there. My inclination is to sell it with bad batteries and let some other sucker deal with that problem. The unit had less than 100 hours on it when it bricked, putting the hourly cost of running probably about $45. A Goddamned Peterbilt would be cheaper, or I'll just keep Sling Blade around.

But it looks cool.

I guess that the mower had no warranty to help? and yes, Mr. Ford built a car mainly from hemp and powered by hemp. He envisioned a car that the owner could easily grow and process his own fuel. Deep state of the day, and particularly William Randolph Hurst, Sr., criminalized MJ as well as hemp. read more:
