I knew a guy who was a guard at the Cook County Jail in 1968.

When MLK, Jr. was shot and killed in Memphis, they cancelled the leaves for all the guards.

One black guard, because he had a good job, he was able to get a mortgage on a 4-flat on near west side. He lived on 2nd floor.

When he opened the door to go to work a black guy was standing on the landing below. He was ready to light a Molotov cocktail.

He said to him, "Whatchoo think you doing?"

The black guy said, "I'll show whitey. I'm gonna burn down this building."

The black guard pulled his pistol and killed him tight where he was standing.

My friend asked, "How are you going to explain that?"

The black deputy replied, "When they come along and pick him up, it's just another dead nigger."

The good blacks call the bad blacks niggers too.

Most of the west side of Chicago went up in flames that day and there was a dusk to dawn curfew for the entire city. :-/

When working for Illinois State Highways, one day we set up a lane closure.

We had an arrow board set up on a bridge over I think it was I-294, Tri-state toll road.

The wind blew the arrow board askew and the Engineer saw it and was complaining.

I told him, "It must have been the trolls living under the bridge that did that." LOL
