I worked with a guy whose relatives came to the U.S. from Ukraine during the Bolshevik Revolution.

He told me his Grandmother told him they even raked out their root cellars.

Of course their system of collectivism ruined the farmers in Ukraine since they were forced to give up 90% of their crop to the state and join a collectivist farm. ;)
