Man, a thousand bux for a reel-to-reel video tape recorder was a lot of money in '65. That was probably half the price of a new car. I think I got my first VHS VCR in the late 70s for about a grand. It was a JVC. Wired (limited function) remote.

Yep, minimum wage $1/hr, good burgers fifteen cents, fuel twenty cents, and on and on, a thou was a good chunka change back then.
