There are only supposed to be 2 samples left on planet earth, one each in US and Russian possession. There should be zero samples left but that's probably pointless as the genome is certainly documented so they could probably recreate it from scratch at any time in the future.

Maybe they don't quite have that tech yet, but if not yet, they will soon.
