Maybe nickels like pennies will be made from zinc.

I think nickels ceased being made of nickel during WWII. I could be wrong about that.

During WW II nickels were made of 35% silver!! Today. A nickel is a five-cent coin struck by the United States Mint. Composed of cupronickel (75% copper and 25% nickel), the piece has been issued since 1866.

I could be wrong about that.

I was. Nickels are only 25% nickel, from 1942-1945 they were 35% silver.
