Hi Lew,

I’ve been sending friends Lord Posonby’s Ten Rules of Propaganda. He was one of the few Brits to oppose WWI and predicted the slaughter it would create for all. He then predicted the propaganda that would be used to sell it.

Little has changed.

Posonby’s Ten Rules of Propaganda:

1. We don’t want war, we are only defending ourselves

2. The other guy is the sole responsible for this war

3. Our adversary’s leader is evil and looks evil

4. We are defending a noble purpose, not special interest

5. The enemy is purposefully causing atrocities; we only commit mistakes

6. The enemy is using unlawful weapons

7. We have very little losses, the enemy is losing big

8. Intellectuals and artists support our cause

9. Our cause is sacred

10. Those who doubt our propaganda are traitors.

AFAWK the Russians are not yet inside Kiev. Whatever damage has been done is probably attributable to the militia.

It sure is.

Edward Bernays ran that stuff up on a scientific basis and made it pay big time.

Bernays got millions of women to smoke who wouldn't otherwise have been seen holding a cigarette and helped the U.S. gov't install leaders where necessary by using the big megaphone and mass psychology.

Promotion of war is a stock in trade, and Bernays figured guys like him were doing a lot of good. As I remember, Mark Twain had something to say about those sorts of pikers.

If you will recall, the Nazis used propaganda to start WW II by dressing their own prisoners in Polish military uniforms and staging an attack on a German radio station near the Polish border.

Josef Goebbels, the Nazi Propaganda Minister said, "The lie has no place in propaganda." ;)

When we drove big trucks, some of my co- drivers were married. There was a sticker they put on window of a lizard wearing lipstick and smoking a cigarette. It had red circle slash overlaying the lizard. It meant NO LOT LIZARDS. They didn't care and would still knock on the door. :-/

Charles Lindberg warned that Germany was rearming in violation of the Versailles Treaty. But he was ignored.

Lindberg was also a non-interventionist. He redeemed himself by flying 50 missions in a B-26 in the south Pacific. ;)
