I had to look up the lyrics her to be sure I hadn't mis-heard the first line.

It really does end with the word "American" which to my ear is not an antecedent to the following where-clause.

Don't know if it's good song writing or not, but I might say,"I'm proud to be from America where at least I know I'm free . . ."

Do you find those lyrics at all jarring, NN?

BTW, "where at least I know I'm free" sounds stupid all by itself for obvious reasons I won't belabor you with.

Having worked concerts back in the 80s and 90s, I learned there are different types of entertainers. Some I ignore and some I do not.

The death metal and head bangers sucked. But I worked some really great country concerts.

George Strait was one. This girl had big hooters and wanted to throw her bra up to George. I walked her up front, she threw it and it landed at George's feet.

We worked the old Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. There were so many fights it was called "the brawlroom".

LOL, she's too useful to them for making fools of rightists. Many years ago a comically blustery Ron Wilson hosted a talk by her in downtown Greenville. She rattled on and on Ron and the audience got more and more awed while RBC and I grew more and more skeptical. At question time I politely called her on some of her stuff -- this drew irate stares and noises from the entire audience.

She was said to be living in Spartanburg at the time -- looked fresh as a daisy, not at all like she'd been through the mill(s) she described. A main clue of her fakery is her book title 'Thanks for the Memories' and cover illustration -- too kicky and satirical for the subject matter. Her mien was so solemn it didn't match her at all either, eventho her face was part of the photo collage.

Quite honestly I'm still wondering if it was actually her speaking to us -- there's just so much fakery going on. We got punked twice that way in the NJ Populist Party of olde.
