This should not go well for Plantiffs...I hope as I notice they didn't name Costco as a party in their action.

Back in the day I sold computer books. Many of my customers were overseas. During the Gulf War, I was talking to Englishmen working late in London so I I laid it on a little thick. I said, "It is terrible here in Silicon Valley. Gas just went over a dollar a gallon. I had to pay $1.09."

The Englishman turned to a colleague and said, " I am talking to an American. He is complaining that gas just went over a dollar a gallon."

I went on to tell him that ARCO had been fined $20 million for selling Alaskan gas for under a dollar a gallon. I said," If we could divert a tanker to England, we could sell it 5 gallons for a fiver."

The point is that our gas prices are pushed higher by regulations and taxes.

The Alaskans wanted to build a second pipeline.

Interesting -- I heard once in the 1970s that gas was five bucks a gallon in France.

How dare they compete in times of hardship. When Society faces hardship, it is the duty of every subject to knuckle under and bow to the dictats of their betters.

In late 70s gas in Chicago went from 74 cents a gallon to near a buck a gallon in just a few weeks.

When young we took a trip to Oklahoma. They had gas wars going and it was 19 cents a gallon. ;)

I wonder what the excise was back in Oklahoma when gas wars had it at 19 cents a gallon?

In Chicago, they have state tax and Cook County tax and City tax all rolled into one. I saw regular gas at $4.39 in south loop. ;)

The local MurphyUSA was looking for an attendant during the night, but no way to get over there at those hours.

These guys should just be glad that guy with the electronic gizmo didn't show up and pump 400 gallons of gas into cars for free. That station lost $1,500 that night. ;)
