My mother was in better cognitive shape when me and my girlfriend loaded her into the back of her (my) car. The only thing that might assuage my conscience is the fact that Mom was in debilitating pain and begging to die.

My ex-squeeze still has the car. I'm sure she'd be willing to take one for the team. I'll buy the gas and be co-pilot. DC is a day trip from here.
