It's a horrible waste of labor, resources and human ingenuity.

I think it was Hitler (everybody's favorite bad boy) that said something like "War is the mother of invention."

I might be mistaken on the quote, but lotsa folks champion that idea. Although you can't rewrite history, it's to be hoped that humans could find a way forward materially another way.

Somebody has to pay for/clean up all that shit.
