The Agriculture Legislation Amendment Bill 2022 has had its second reading in parliament. Biosecurity is stated as the reason for changes.

It didn't use to. I had a couple expat buddies in the Sydney area that vanished like a fart in the wind shortly after covi started. I pulled all the strings there were to pull.
They're gone. The Aussies really nutted-up over covi. NZ did too, I guess.
