The list includes eggshells. You need to wash them and sterilize them in a preheated oven and then pulverize them so worms can eat them. The worms make an enzyme called chitinase that eats the exoskeletons of aphids.

You can buy earthworms for the soil. Or you can buy Red Wigglers worm bins to make vermicompost.

Across most of northern US and Canada there are no native earthworms. I introduced some to my garden in upstate NY but in a few years they were gone.

Interesting! I always thought earthworms were all over the world -- well, maybe not in Antarctica or the Atacama dessert. Didn't know there weren't any in large parts of the northern and western US.

The Robins gobble up nightcrawlers here in SW Missouri in the morning and especially after a rain shower. ;)
