Cadillac plans to produce only 500 Celestiqs per year in an $81 million facility at GM's Global Technology Center in Warren, Michigan.

GM: Stumbling over hundred dollar bills to pick up bright, shiny pennies since 2008.

$81 million plant / 500 cars = $162,000 per car, just for the building.

My calculator must be broken. NOBODY can be that stupid, not even GM.

The comments section at ZH is fun with this one.

all-priced-in

That is only $2,000.01 a month for 1,800 months (150 years) at 8%

I did the actual math - these are real numbers!

Obama gave GM billions and they sent Cadillac to China. Are they still there?

As far as I know, but their Escalades may be built at the plant(s) that build the Chevy and GMC suburban-type trucks.

Never seen the commercial, I don't watch TeeVee except the 39.5 PBS WX channel.

That Caddy would be OK if they cut out the section with the back doors/seats and put a Kammback wagon rear end on it and a 350 small block V8 under the hood. AWD would be nice, too.

And lowered the price $280,000.

I'm fussy that way.

When we worked for Illinois State Highways, once they told us we were not allowed to take the trucks to have lunch.

I took the order for the crew and walked a few blocks to a fast food joint. I was wearing my orange helmet and safety vest and was hitch hiking back to the job site.

This guy with a Cadillac stopped to give me a ride. He had a white interior and I got in wearing my emulsion boots and emulsion pants. He didn't seem to mind but at least I got back while the food was hot. ;)
