His concerns relate to CENTRALIZED digital currencies. He does mention bitcoin as a safe alternative but bitcoin in its present form is unusable as a retail currency due to its built in global transaction limit of 7 per second. But other free market currencies can support high scale retail transaction volumes of the scale of at least 100,000 transactions per second.
