I suspect that the people who control the US government (many of whom are not even American at all, or have dual Israeli/US citizenship) -- and those who control many other nations' governments -- would love to see one or more nuclear bombs exploded in the Ukraine conflict.

A perfect excuse and opportunity to impose martial law and further strip us mere citizens of what little liberty and prosperity we still enjoy.

Governments have killed over 250 million people in the last 120 years (estimates vary wildly, but in any case the number is extremely large, and the victims are extremely dead). A few million more here or there doesn't bother them in the least. They're psychopaths; they relish wreaking death, destruction, and misery.
