The Paris Olympics began in earnest on Friday, 26 July with a grand opening ceremony at the river Seine in Paris. The ceremony included artists and singers from across the globe and the programme was hosted by Kelly Clarkson. One of the acts of the ceremony witnessed a rider on a pale horse parading along the river Seine which captured the eyes of many at the event and beyond. In a post on X, a user posted the picture of the rider on the pale horse which soon was associated with Death itself at the Olympics.

The foundations for bridges over the River Seine came from the blocks of the Bastille. ;)

Clint Eastwood did a film, Pale Rider, in 1985 which was based on that part of Revelations to which you referred.
It was the highest grossing western of the 1980s. ;)

I worked at Mary Ann Bakery in Chicago in the 70s. A lot of the help there was Greeks. That is where I learned to swear in Greek.
They had high hopes for me because I could speak English. It was a slave shop, though.
I helped out at the ovens for a while. A black guy named Freddy was in charge there. Everyone would kid him about watermelons. He had a good work ethic and was not into drugs like so many other blacks.
When the CHA high rises were torn down, all the blacks were moved into Section 8 housing in the suburbs. My sister told me she knew a woman who was a cop out there. She told my sister, "Things are not the way they used to be."
Many blacks were into petty theft and drugs. Where the drug consumers are, the drug dealers follow. :-/

There was a band named DETH that performed at Medusa's in Chicago. It was on Sheffield about a mile south of Wrigley Field.
It was on 2nd floor and was a long flight of stairs down to the street. If you had to throw someone out, you couldn't get them out of there if they were out of control.
One show I grabbed this guy for trying to get onstage. He was pretty wild going out with his arms raised up.
I got him out the door at top of stairs. I tried to take his legs out. It didn't work. So I slipped him into a Half-Nelson with my left arm, grabbed his free arm and moved him over five or six feet and thumped his head on the corner of the wall by entrance to ladies' room.
That brought him down a few notches.
Al was sitting there taking tickets. He told me, "He was a big boy. You really manhandled him."
As soon as I cussed, the boss came running up the stairs. Just before he closed the door to the concert hall, I looked and my ex-partner was in there. He gave me the "thumbs up"
You know what that guy whose head I thumped on the wall said to our guy at the bottom of the stairs? "Where is the nearest liquor store?"
That would have been Brown Derby a block south.
Do you think maybe he needed it to kill the pain? ROTFLMAO!
