A few weeks ago, Renew Europe MEP, Bernard Guetta, spoke on “Café sans filtre”, a show hosted by Maxime Binet on LN 24 (a news channel in Belgium).

More than two years ago, Russia began its “special operation” in Ukraine. While Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, claims that his country’s victory depends, among other things, on the West, Bernard Guetta adds in his interview that victory “doesn't only depend on us, it depends almost entirely on us. Whatever the astonishing courage the Ukrainians have: if they don’t have weapons, they can’t fight.”

He goes on to highlight a “huge” mistake made by the West in the spring of 2022, that of not having massively delivered weapons when Ukraine had managed to push back Russian troops. A delivery that would have allowed the Russians to be chased out of their territory.

As for the question of a potential Russian victory, Bernard Guetta answers bluntly: “I don’t think Russia can win this war, because it has already lost it”. Indeed, according to the MEP, “Vladimir Putin thought he would win the war in three days. Two years later, ‘he controls 17.5% of the territory,'” reports La Libre.

The MEP concludes by emphasizing that in the event of a world war, Europe cannot defend itself alone, due to the lack of a “common defense”; the whole issue of the next European mandate.
