It is interesting to note that Reza Pahlavi says, "The people of Iran are our best allies."

When he was the Shah of Iran his secret police, the Savak, terrorized the people so much that it lead to the student uprising which led to the 444 day standoff when the U.S. Embassy in Tehran was over run.

Carter sent in Seal Team Six to rescue them, but two of the choppers crashed in the Iranian desert and the mission was aborted. ;)
