The Israeli military is preventing residents of Jabalia in northern Gaza from returning to their homes as part of an ethnic cleansing campaign, Haaretz reported on Wednesday.

The report said the military is blocking the return of approximately 50,000 residents of Jabalia due to pressure from Israeli political leadership. It said the Israeli army acknowledged it’s carrying out a partial implementation of the “general’s plan,” which calls for a complete ethnic cleansing of all areas of Gaza north of the Netzarim Corridor, a strip of land controlled by the Israeli military.

Israeli Strikes in Eastern Lebanon Kill Six Paramedics

Despite some media reports claiming a ceasefire could happen in a matter of hours, Israeli airstrikes continue apace across Lebanon. As has been the case throughout their war, the targeting is in no way confined to Hezbollah militants.

Today, during the course of their multiple airstrikes against the city of Baalbek and surrounding areas, Israel hit a gathering point for civil defense workers, killing four paramedics. Two more were killed in other attacks around the city.

Deliberate attacks on paramedics and medical centers have been a constant in the air war, and a lot have also been slain in secondary attacks trying to rescue survivors from previous Israeli strikes. In the past year, 178 Lebanese paramedics have been killed, and 279 wounded. 246 rescue vehicles, mainly ambulances, have been struck in those attacks.

The attacks on ambulances continued today as well, with one of the strikes on the coastal city of Tyre hitting and destroying an ambulance. The crew inside, surprisingly, survived that attack.

Satellite images show Israel razed over 1,000 buildings in south Lebanon

Satellite images obtained by the New York Times (NYT) reveal the widespread devastation inflicted on the south of Lebanon by the invading Israeli army, including the destruction of at least 1,085 buildings since 1 October.

“One village, Mhaibib, appears to have been virtually flattened, with only a handful of buildings still standing. In five other villages and towns, entire neighborhoods were reduced to rubble,” according to the US daily’s analysis.

UN peacekeeping mission in south Lebanon targeted 30 times in October

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has recorded more than 30 incidents in October resulting in property damage or injury to its soldiers, amid Israel’s repeated calls on peacekeepers to abandon their positions.

Of the 30 incidents this month, “about 20 of those we could attribute to [Israeli military] fire or actions, with seven being clearly deliberate,” UNIFIL’s spokesman Andrea Tenenti told a news conference on Wednesday.
