United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has ordered the deployment of additional ballistic missile defense destroyers, fighter squadrons, tanker aircraft, and several B-52 long-range strike bombers to the Middle East, the Department of Defense announced on November 1.

In a statement, Pentagon Press Secretary Major General Pat Ryder said that the assets were deployed to reaffirm the U.S. commitments to the protection of its citizens and forces in the Middle East, the defense of Israel, and de-escalation through deterrence and diplomacy.

These deployments build on the recent decision to deploy the THAAD missile defense system to Israel as well as the Department of Defense sustained Amphibious Ready Group Marine Expeditionary Unit posture in the Eastern Mediterranean, the press secretary continued.

A Trump victory (if it happens) will change the dynamics in the ME. Trump loves Israel but unlike the vast majority of politicians he's not bought by them. And he promised to completely declassify the JFK files, and maybe the 911 data also. Maybe the USS Liberty files if there's anything still classified about that which I expect there is. If he sees illicit Israel's fingerprints on any of these, he might change his tune about Israel quickly. Maybe.

Trump has always been a loose cannon. Naive, yes, but he's not controlled by anyone.

I disagree. There are 76 days between election day and inauguration day. In that time Yemen armed with a Mach 9 cruise missile could shut down what is left of the Israeli economy by shutting down all trade by sea.

Yemen could force the US Navy to anchor 1,000 kilometers distant.

Iran can wipe out Israel's 6 electrical generation plants and both of their refineries.

Israel has to to learn to live next door to a Palestinian state.

Israel is through. Nuclear war or peace are their only choices.
