Lukashenko Says Trump Will Deserve Nobel Prize If He Ends Ukraine War [ZH]

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has issued a formal congratulations to Donald Trump for his victory in the US presidential election, following some rare positive remarks also made by Russia's Vladmir Putin.

Lukashenko signaled his support and openness to seeking the end of the Ukraine war by favorable negotiated settlement. "If he [ends the war], we’ll petition for the Nobel Prize. He’ll be rewarded for doing a good deed," Lukashenko was quoted as saying in state-run Belta.

(Edit) I used to love bartending part time between assignments. I met so many great people. One couple that really stood out was John and Linda. They were the kindest and gentlest folks I've ever encountered, aside from Jim Lodwick.

They were not beautiful people, nor were they very smart. They didn't have a car or could drive, but they had each other. They're probably long gone by now, they were probably 20 years older than me in the 80s.

John was a BIG man, he had a 125-150 pounds and 6 inches on me. Linda was short and rotund. John could've squashed me like a bug if he wanted to. He couldn't read. He worked at the huge cemetery across the street in grounds keeping.

They did have a house though. It probably dated back to the early days of Ft. Wayne, it was near downtown, probably about 500 square feet, at best. They had a crappy pool table in their basement, sometimes I'd go there and play pool with them after bartending.

Most folks like them will never have their own place now thanks to the dims. It brought tears to my eyes remembering them.

Bartending was a good way to get laid too.

Linda must've had to take the bus to get groceries. It was probably a quarter back then. I take the bus when my car is at Chip's to and fro. It was $1.25 last time, but I think it's $1.50 now.
