Tuesday marked the end of the 30-day deadline, and Israel didn’t come close to meeting the US demands. The State Department said it won’t change any policies toward Israel, confirming the letter was nothing more than a pre-election public relations ploy.

General Chief of Staff Fayyad al-Ruwaili of the Saudi armed forces met his Iranian counterpart, General Mohammad Bagheri, at the Iranian Armed Forces General Staff Headquarters in Tehran on Sunday, Iran’s official news agency IRNA reported.
(The Saudis do not want to get caught between Israel and Iran. Their navies had joint drills with the Russians.)
