Deer in the Cook County Forest Preserve District (suburban Chicago) were eating themselves out of house and home and were literally starving. So, they opened a bow season there to thin out the deer population.

I went to a conservation camp in Eagle River, Wisconsin in the 70s. We had this guy come to speak who was with Wisconsin Conservation Department. I asked him about poachers. That question sort of ruffled his feathers. LOL

Lake Mead has been drying up. That area is basically a desert and snowfall in the Rocky Mountains has been below normal for several years.

Lake Mead is also the source of water for Las Vagas area. So, the stress on the water supply has reached its limits. ;)
