There was a cure for polio in the 1950s in North Carolina that worked. Give a child 100 grams of Vitamin C in an IV every day for 7 days. The Vitamin C takes care of the free radical pathology. One the 8th day, the child's imune system has developed immunity.

The Polio virus is spread by ingestion of infected fecal matter or substances that were exposed to it.

When they began treating public pools with chlorine the cases of polio dropped significantly.

Washing produce helped significantly as well, as many third world pickers take their dumps in the fields.
