I had an idea around 1986 or so that an opposed flat-4 mounted aft of a front-wheel-drive transaxle would result in a low center of gravity, more balanced handling with a large pert of vehicle weight right behind the front drive/steering axle, and a long hood so popular with the public and stylists not so long ago.
