(Edit) The good news for me is, Dak lives about 90 miles south of here.

The bad news he's about mid-point between here and her sister's joint in Carbondale.

Due to inescapable database differences, when the upgrade is done, I plan to make it mandatory for everyone. Meaning this 23 year old software code running now will be retired. I was hoping to have both operational for a few months, especially so bugs could be identified and fixed, but that's going to be more work in servicing the code that is about to be retired, and that's just not worth the effort for me.

I will be showing off the new site on a read-only basis first, before the transition but that's about the best I'll be offering as a break-in period to accommodate all you low-lifes.

Some features will be discontinued, like the ping & bozo lists, which was more useful when we had more people with more in-fighting and such. I could always reintroduce those things later. The search feature on latest articles should work, which doesn't now, though that's intensive CPU work which is fine, but because of that will require being logged in now that there are AI bots patrolling the internet these days pushing all the buttons.

I want to have both light and dark themes supported, and also preserve the original art design Christine made so long ago as that is just too good lookin' to let disappear. It's just too much a part of 4um's history. Though it may not be available on transition day. We'll see.

Still a lot to do. The private mail system and the admin panel so I can maintain the Iron Rod Dicatorship status I have here.
