in '89 I reenlisted on an SH53 only helo ride I ever had went from the hanger to the US embassy in Manila and back, those thing really start to yaw when they cranked it up on the tarmac. the flight chief said they were pretty easy to autogyro land them just in case the powerplant failed I'm cool not having it proven.

no rotor equals no ability to autogyro so yes one is indeed renting the farm with an option to buy. like I said I'm glad they didn't have to prove the claim.

around 2000 the Marines had a flight limit of 25 miles for troop transport on their CH53s the original aircraft were brought online in '64 I was still young then ; )
