Resuming 4um Upgrade Work

I'm going to start messing with the site again. Starting with the mail composition page. This "tiny" input box needs to be replaced as the site will use up its 1k allotment of usage for the month of October probably around the 24th at which point I expect postings will cease to work until Nov 1. I've got an in-house solution for this box. None of the external, 3rd party widgets worked sufficiently. But thanks to some AI assistance (Grok was the superstar here) I've got something that I think will be quite suitable. It will support YT regular vids, YT shorts, Bitchute vids and Rumble vids. Rumble proved the toughest. They may not always work, similarly to how YT's don't always work, either because we're not old enough to see some vids, or they block it from being viewed in certain parts of the world.

I'll start with the mail composition page as that's certainly least used so is good for experimentation. Once the edit box is free of the "tinymce" widget, I can get on to some work on other things here to improve stuff.

I've completed, for now, the mail composition page which has the new input widget. It's completely homegrown. I'm now going to start on the normal "public" comment page. You may see issues over the next hour or so. Whatever. If it works, great. If not, wait.

The new compose system supports YT embeds of both normal vids and shorts, Bitchute embeds and rumble embeds. Of course wit the usual caveots of specific vids permitting embeds. That now works now on the mail side.

You don't need the iframe coding any more. You just need the ordinary URL / web address of the vid. Above the composition box, click the media icon. You should then see a popup into which you put the web addr. Click okay, and then the vid appears.

At least that's what should work, but it's not exactly been tested with all browsers.

......okay, well that's how it will work when I'm finished, at least.

More simple cosmestic changes coming once the posting stuff is done. The mail system is probably out of order right now, as far as media goes. I used AI to build this but it has its limits when things get complex.

Okay, I see that now. Thanks. That may be because it's still using the "tinymce" widget for collecting content, and there's a monthly limit on that usage. That's being replaced by this homegrown version, which I'm ironing the bugs out of right now.

I'm surprised though, if that's the reason as I expected usage limit not to be reached for another several days, at least, and since it's no longer available for comment posting or mail posting, I figured the limit wouldn't be reached this month at all.

So I kinda suspect it's something else, like some site is down. Not sure. All the more reason why replacing it is a priority.

Care for some AI babe viewing?
