Venezuelan Narco Regime Under Nicolás Maduro Provided Over $20 Million to Fund Black Lives Matter

Greg Skordas is a Democratic attorney from Utah who ran for Utah Attorney General in 2020, challenging incumbent Republican Sean Reyes. He lost the general election held on November 3, 2020, after conceding the race due to Reyes leading by over 246,000 votes. Skordas had previously sought the attorney general position in 2004 and also ran for Salt Lake County District Attorney in 2010, both unsuccessfully.

With over 38 years of legal experience, Skordas has served as a defense attorney, prosecutor, and small claims court judge. He worked as First Assistant Salt Lake County Attorney, where he became Utah’s first gang prosecutor and led the Special Victims Unit. He also co-founded a law firm and played a key role in establishing Utah’s Drug Court program in 1995. Skordas has represented more than 150 law enforcement officers in use-of-force cases and has taught at Utah’s police academy.

A lifelong Utah resident, Skordas earned both his engineering and law degrees from the University of Utah, graduating from law school in 1982. He has been recognized for his pro bono work, including eviction defense and advocacy for sexual assault survivors, and was named Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by the Utah State Bar in 2017. He has also been selected as a Super Lawyer from 2012 to 2020.

Skordas’s 2020 campaign emphasized defending health care, clean air, and individual rights, and he criticized the politicization of the Attorney General’s office. He opposed joining lawsuits aimed at repealing the Affordable Care Act, positioning himself as the “people’s lawyer” who would represent everyday Utahns rather than align with partisan agendas.

He currently practices criminal defense law through his firm, Skordas Caston & Hyde, LLC, based in Salt Lake City. Outside of law, Skordas is an avid skier, cyclist, and motorcyclist, and lives in Eden, Utah, with his wife Rebecca.
