The exp. date was over a year ago, the oil's probably gone rancid. I hate throwing food away.

My neighbor's gonna check out the Tacoma tomorrow if I need to make a trip up 30W.
It hasn't been out of the garage since I loaned it to him to take his pop-up to Angola with his wife in the summer of 2024.
I filled it with premium when he got back and stabilized it. I ran it up to temp in the garage a week or so ago to make sure it still runs and ran it through the gears static to lube everything, ran the A/C, etc.

It's been a tough week. It made me realize how fucking old I am.

I don't think I was at my sister's house since before The Cold War ended in 1991.

Pam (Punk) my Company handler between assignments was with me, I think it was to rescue Mary from a DIY home improvement project gone wrong. We met some interesting guy who was a drywall contractor for WTC 1&2 at a dive bar up there.
He explained how the crews would leapfrog between like four floors at a time.
One would hang drywall, one came in behind and taped and mudded, the next sanded and touched up, the next, I don't remember what.
#1 would jump ahead of #4, lather, rinse, repeat for however many floors it was. 100+?

That was a long time before 911 'Changed Everything'. We used to have a lot of fun and Punk was quite the handyman.

I've got a great big SS thing, about the size of a 55 gallon drum, but it's a pain to clean out.

I'll probably use used motor oil to get it going. I don't have any gas around and both the Clown Car and Tacoma have these stupid roll-over things in the filler neck, I can't sneak my siphon hose past it.
I asked Chip if I could drill the plastic tanks and put a taper thread drain valve in.

All seriousness aside, probably the the closest I ever came to saving somebody's life was holding the hand of dying Marines in Beirut and saying, "You're gonna be OK" (Going with God) after the medics knew they were goners.
Their eyes would just kind of drift off. A medic yelled at me, "Touch their eye, if they don't flinch, pull the sheet over their head."

A vet did the same test when me and Teri had our black lab Rambo put down and we were holding him.

I did it on my mother when hospice called me and Marla to sign papers after mom died.
Marla screamed, "What the fuck are you doing!?"
"Makin' sure she's dead."

I pulled the covers over head.

Trying to close the eyes of a dead person doesn't work like it does in the movies, they come back up, I tried it on Rambo and my mother.
I guess that's what the sheet is for.
