Bitcoin is now in the red for this year as investors continued to shed their speculative technology holdings with the cryptocurrency first among them.

Bitcoin was last trading around $91,000, but earlier Tuesday touched $89,259, its lowest since April 22. With Tuesday’s losses, bitcoin is now down 2% for the year, per FactSet.

The move comes as investors have shed their AI-related tech holdings this month in the stock market. Bitcoin appeared to foreshadow the risk-off move, peaking in early October at a record above $126,000 and sliding ever since.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq-100 stock index is off by 4% this month, following cryptocurrencies lower. Many large tech investors are also big holders in the cryptocurrency space.

Mike O’Rourke, chief market strategist at Jones Trading said the correlation between bitcoin and the tech-stock sell-off this week “is undeniable.”

“It is truly the tail wagging the dog when a $1.8 trillion market cap speculative asset is significantly influencing the $32 trillion market capitalization index,” said O’Rourke. “It is alarming to see the index - with its highly concentrated exposure to the largest and most influential companies in the world and the U.S. equity market - take cues from Bitcoin.”

Strategy (MSTR), which uses leverage to buy bitcoin and is considered a risky proxy for the cryptocurrency, was down again in premarket trading Tuesday, set to its 27% loss for November heading into the session.

I'm not sure I'm seeing this as bitcoin influencing the equity markets.  Sure there's correlation but causation is something else.

If there is a medium / long term credit shortage, the feds will crank up the printing presses.  If bitcoin goes down another 25% from current prices, I'd say it's a good long term buying opportunity.  History certainly says that.

Fundamental analysis doesn't work for squat in the markets anymore. IMHO, it's better to watch what the sheep are stampeding towards and go the other way, look for the exits.

I knew gold was was at a top when I saw pics of people lining up to buy at $4,300, actually more like $4,400-4,500 after premiums.

"If bitcoin goes down another 25% from current prices, I'd say it's a good long term buying opportunity."

I agree. I was surprised to see a 90k handle on it the other day. It was stuck at $100k +/- for quite awhile after coming off its peak.

It's $93k right now. The buy-the-dippers are in the house. $70k might be a good number to buy.

If you want to sweet talk me, big fella, try Paul Harvey instead of Burroughs.
I remember several times when I was in elementary school, Dad would come home for lunch and time it so he could take me back to school on his way back to work.
Paul Harvey was on the AM radio of his '66 Cutlass sedan with the 330 ci ultra-high compression motor and 2-speed automatic. Drive & low. Powerglide? The name escapes me.
It's hard imagining being young. Kimmy tells me some interesting stories from when we were dating in the late 70s.

No wonder why I got recruited, I was a badass in my younger days.

She could just be making shit up, I don't think she is though.

Your MK Ultra bullshit just gave me a weird flashback.
I remembered going back to school, junior high, after dad died.
Kids were nice to me, so I had friends, meaning it was later on, maybe the last year.

I spent the next three years in HS becoming the insular, psychopath, that I still cling to today.
Like that guy in the "Breakfast Club" movie. The badass, Bender?
The Company was probably licking their chops waiting for me to become of-age and get at least one year of college under my belt.

I met Kimmy the summer I graduated, I think she just graduated JH, she was 15, me 18.

Damnit, that was all supposed to be hush-hush, a gentleman's agreement amongst ferocious greedy tyrants such as myself and the hillbilly bear band coughing all over that fresh hot pizza.

You just got un-invited to my funeral.

J/k, I'm not supposed to have a funeral, just sent to MedCure, frozen and become Moo-Goo-Gai-Pacman in China.

I need to have a serious face-to-face with Chris. He'd better not do to me what I'm doing to my sister. This is barbaric.

Previous long term AHT for BTC which held for a long time was $69k or so, so yeah, that should be a good support level.  Or even if it's not great, it's a great price.  And yeah, BTC hit a new ATH just a couple months ago.

My favorite, the crypto that actually IS a viable retail currency, ETH, has also taken a beating, of course.  Maybe some whales are behind the price dropping.  Sure which I had liquidated more when it was in the 4500 range.

Look at this odd video and my questions to @grok about an attempt to break automotive side glass.

https://x.com/TheLucyShow1/status/1990939502219833771

Grok says they're using windshield-type glass in the side windows of cars now for 'sound insulation'. I've never heard about that.
Grok lies at random to save face. I'm not sure what to believe.

Seems dangerous.

Flash crashes come every few months.  Those are long players that have Stop Losses in too narrow a range, and when some start triggering, it drives the price down trigging more SLs and doing a feedback loop until the cleanings are done.  Same happens to the upside with shorts sometimes.  But the hard bottom isn't far away now, in % terms, if the pull back continues.  Hard support is at hand.

Seems this could be an indicator of a credit squeeze with the USD.  Dollars drying up would do this.  If the fed does respond with more cash creation, whatever the mechanism used, then a strong price rebound with crypto should be very significant.
