the Mayon volcano is erupting again, my thought was to dump them into it to see if it would be appeased. the Aeta were convinced the reason Mt Pinatubo erupted was because was because they didn't offer it enough chickens and pigs. I had front seat tickets to both of them erupting over the years I was there. my wife grew up outside of Tabaco in the Albay province of Luzon, about a 16-hour bus ride from Subic up and down the mountains, about 30mph up 70mph down. on wooden bench seats. the Philippines has strict immigration laws and deported sneak ins as soon as they were found. there was an Australian I knew who would work on sailboats being moved from Australia to Tiawan and jump off in Subic until he'd get caught. across the bay from NAVSTA Subic was a commercial pier, the Soviets would run ships into there on a regular basis, there would be less message traffic at those times. Kawasaki had a motorcycle factory over there to get around the 200% import tariffs. just in Olongapo there must have been 15,000 125cc Kawasaki's rigged with sidecars used for side street transportation. we could get four 90-pound bags of portland cement on one plus two passengers.
