All of this has its roots in the Constitutional Convention of 1789 which was a reorganization under international bankruptcy law.

When the new document was presented, several delegates refused to sign withouta Bill of Rights. This led to the first 10 Amendments. The First spells out your right and the second how to protect those rights, with an armed citizenry.

Of course. Fort Wayne's a blue city politically, not so much people-wise. Indy and a few counties near Chicago on Lake Michigan are pretty bad.

The last big trouble I recall was during the George Floyd riots. Tear gas blew in from downtown, about two miles west, and ruined a nice T-bone I had on the grill.
