(US IS PULLING NATO AIR DEFENSE FROM THE UKRAINE AND SENDING THEM TO DEFEND

THE US AND ISRAEL FROM IRANIAN MISSILES AND DRONES.)

Trump Expects His Iran War To Last Four Weeks or So

by Dave De Camp, antiwar.com

The president said it's likely more Americans will be killed.

President Trump said in an interview with the Daily Mail on Sunday that he expects his new war with Iran to last “four weeks or so” as US and Israeli strikes continue to pound Iran and Iranian missiles and drones continue to make an impact in Israel and target US bases in the region.

“It’s always been a four-week process. We figured it will be four weeks or so. It’s always been about a four-week process, so – as strong as it is, it’s a big country, it’ll take four weeks – or less,” the president said.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the US is racing to deplete Iran’s ability to fire missiles and drones before its stockpiles of interceptors run out. The US military used an enormous number of THAAD, Patriot, and SM-3 interceptors defending Israel and its base in Qatar during the 12-Day War, and is now using many more in the current war.

Oil prices set to surge as ships are hit in the Strait of Hormuz:

Leading shipping companies suspended sailing through the Strait of Hormuz after two ships were hit yesterday morning, one of which was set on fire, injuring four mariners. The crew of one vessel, Skylight, were later evacuated.

A third strike happened 35 miles off the coast of the United Arab Emirates yesterday afternoon when, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), 'an unknown projectile exploded in very close proximity to a vessel'. It added that all crew were safe and well.

The threat of further Iranian attacks yesterday saw at least 150 tankers drop anchor as companies, including European giants Maersk and CMA CGM, refused to head into the 100-mile Strait – which is just 24 miles wide at its narrowest point – where the Persian Gulf flows into the Arabian Sea.

Some 20 per cent of the world's oil – about 20 million barrels per day – and 25 per cent of liquefied natural gas is transported through the passage, which Iran briefly closed off by holding live fire drills last month.

OPEC (the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries) stood accused of cashing in on the crisis in the Middle East as prices have already climbed 20 per cent this year as markets anticipated the attack on Iran.

The volatility could also lead to higher electricity prices, according to one expert. Jorge Leon, head of geopolitical analysis at energy intelligence firm Rystad Energy, said disruptions in the liquid natural gas markets could drive up gas prices, which are closely linked to the price of electricity.

He said: 'A higher electricity price will feed through the global economy, and, in particular in the UK, [lead to] higher inflation.

'We have a direct effect – which is higher prices at the pump and higher electricity bills, but also a secondary effect, which is things will get more expensive because inflation might increase.'

Lower-income/young borrowers are defaulting on debt at a “crisis-level” pace

Strain is concentrated among lower-income borrowers. Mortgage delinquencies are rising fastest in low-income areas (overall rate 1.38%), while subprime credit cards and auto loans show sharper increases—serious card delinquency is ~12–13% in vulnerable groups. Higher earners remain relatively stable.

Debt balances continue to rise, according to the latest data from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The latest quarterly report on household debt and credit shows that total household debt increased by $191 billion, or 1%, in the fourth quarter of 2025, to a new high of $18.8 trillion.

Notably, credit card balances rose by $44 billion in the fourth quarter to a record high of $1.28 trillion; mortgage balances grew by $98 billion, totaling $13.17 trillion; and auto loan balances increased by $12 billion, totaling $1.67 trillion at the end of 2025.
