The USS Nimitz will serve the nation 10 more months than previously expected. The Navy is postponing the decommissioning of the aircraft carrier from May to 2027, the Kitsap Sun confirmed.
“Nimitz’ service life has been extended to March 2027,” the carrier’s spokesperson, Pete Pagano, wrote in an email to Kitsap Sun Saturday, March 14.
