A woman decided to celebrate her 70th birthday by treating herself to one night in a very nice hotel. The next morning, when she went to check out, the desk clerk gave her a bill for $250. She was shocked and asked why it was so expensive. “I agree it’s a nice hotel, but the room isn’t worth $250 for just one night — I didn’t even have breakfast,” she said. The clerk explained that $250 was the standard rate, and breakfast was included if she had chosen to have it.

She asked to speak with the manager. The manager came out, already informed about the complaint, and said, “Our hotel has an Olympic-sized swimming pool and a large conference center that guests can use.”

“But I didn’t use them,” she replied.

“Well, they are available, and you could have used them,” he answered.

He continued, saying the hotel also offered famous in-house shows with top entertainers from around the world.

“But I didn’t attend any of those shows,” she said.

“They are available, and you could have gone,” the manager repeated.

Every time the manager mentioned another facility, she answered, “But I didn’t use it,” and he kept giving the same reply.

After several minutes of going back and forth, and seeing that the manager would not change his mind, she agreed to pay. She wrote a check and handed it to him.

The manager looked at it and said, “Madam, this check is for only $50.”

“That’s right,” she said. “I charged you $200 for sleeping with me.”

“But I didn’t do that!” the manager replied.

“Well,” she answered calmly, “I was here, and you could have.”

Yeah, whatever age they were, it would've been so much more clever for them rather than to take the $75,000/acre and 3x fair value for their houses, to hold out for the state to impose eminent domain seizure and maybe get $3,000/acre and a lowball (fair market value) number on their houses.

This data center project affects over 330 private properties. Georgia Power says it will negotiate purchases and easements and use eminent domain

Georgia Power claims its to strengthen the grid for the growing energy demand in Georgia (due to many new data centers)

The lines are widely linked to Project Sail

This isn’t a small operation. Project Sail is a $17 billion hyperscale data center campus by Prologis, Atlas that includes 9 massive buildings totaling up to 4.34 million square feet on 829 acres. It will demand hundreds of megawatts of continuous power equivalent to what a small city uses

We cannot allow data centers to take priority over farmers.

No, the EROI is windmill is negative. The 20-year lifespan, now downgraded to 10 years, and the massive amounts of input oil, coal, coke, etc is false.

The only AltE/environmental that works is rainwater reclamation. I'd love to show a project, it's not operational due to a safety 'Low water' switch that failed.
I didn't think it would work when I took the project the project on. It was remarkably successful, but it stepped on a lot of toes.

Not much unlike 97.7% efficient unvented Gas fireplaces that keep my and Chris's heating bills unbelievably low.
If you're unfortunately in Ft. Wayne, I'd love to show you it.
Stripping off leaves and big bugs was easy with 45 degree scuppers, and a brush filter inside.

I put in a secondary system to flush my toilets with two-way valves in case the pool ran dry.
Like I said, I didn't think it would work. I cheaped it out so bad that a leaking toilet upstairs fucked it up.

My other win was making a breadmaker last for an appliance company and a practical way to slice them .
I made so much bread that I had to buy bags from US Plastics to give them away. I made a lot of friends. I used to know a lot of people.
The company pulled the plug, my $0.04 fix (4 smashed oval pieces of brake line) that could've been manufactured from the git, pissed off Wonder Bread or something.
