RUSSIA LAUNCHES MASSIVE STRIKE: ORESHNIK MISSILE HITS BELAYA TSERKOV KYIV UNDER FIRE

  Russia launched an Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missile in a massive overnight attack on Ukraine on May 24, 2026, marking the third confirmed use of the weapon since the war began.  The strike targeted the Kyiv region, specifically the city of Bila Tserkva, approximately 64 km from Kyiv’s center, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Oreshnik missile travels at Mach 10 (10 times the speed of sound) and is considered immune to current missile defense systems, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin.  It is capable of carrying nuclear or conventional warheads and can reportedly destroy deeply buried underground bunkers.

 At least four people were killed and over 80 injured, with damage reported across 50 locations including residential buildings, schools, and infrastructure.

 Russia claims the strike was retaliation for a Ukrainian drone attack on a student dormitory in Starobilsk, which killed 21 people

The Oreshnik missile struck Bila Tserkva in the Kyiv region, targeting Ukrainian military command and control facilities, air bases, and military-industrial enterprises, according to Russia’s Defense Ministry.
