2. The wide interpretation. Some people hear “synthetic / modified / patentable” and conclude the recipient of a medical product is no longer fully human under the law.

Layer 1 is in the opinion. Layer 2 is the theory built on top of it.

Could some future statute, contract, insurance rule, or biotech regime treat modified bodies differently? History is full of governments inventing new categories when it suited them. That is a separate question about power, not a description of what Myriad actually held.

Could the video be overreading a patent case and turning it into a status change that never happened? That is also possible. In fact, that is the standard legal reading.

So: interesting? Yes. Settled as “you are now cattle”? No. Who knows what gets written into the next generation of biotech law? Nobody does. What we can know for certain is what that 2013 ruling said, and what it did not say.
