The earthquake in this video was a 7.7 on the Richter scale.

California on the San Andreas could release an 8.2.

An 8.2 on the Richter scale would release 5.6 times as much energy as the one in this video. That would be a lot more damage on critical infrastructure.

A Cascades Megaquake would be 9.2 as it would be caused by one tectonic plate pushing underneath another. FEMA said a Megaquake on the Cascades would take out everything west of the I 5 freeway.

A 9.2 on the Richter scale would release 31.4 times the energy as an 8.2. Historically, half of the time a major Cascades quake will trigger a quake on the San Andreas. So a Cascades Megaquake would release 5.6 X 31.4  which would be 175.84 times as much energy released as you saw on the video above.

The really bad news is the this is the worst El Nino since 1876. It will send lots of flooding to the US Southwest. California will accumulate a huge snow pack in the .mountains. Lower levels in California will be water logged and the dams, reservoirs and rivers will be at maximum levels. California has levees along hundreds of miles of various rivers. A January rain storm in 1862 melted all the snow pack and flooded the rivers and broke the levees. It caused flooding along 300 miles.

It would likely be followed by a Cascades Megaquake and a San Andreas quake. These would take out electricity, sewers, natural gas, oil pipelines, roads, rail lines and buildings. The quakes would likely trigger several volcanoes which could damage hundreds of square miles

The US West Coast id Toast. The End of the Age is Nigh.

It's severe clear to my north. I can see Polaris easily.
I went out front to see if I could see Orion coming up in the east, but's cloudy to to the south.
I showed my mother the ring on Saturn with a cheap Japanese Montgomery Wards telescope.
She was also my first passenger as Pilot-in-command of a Cessna 152.
I did a circle round the Angola roundabout and did a flyover of her friend's house in Coldwater, MI.
God landed the plane when we got back to 07C.

I don't pay much attention to the flat-earth whack-jobs.

I'm not sure where this was going, I got so teary-eyed reminiscing about my mother.

That earthquake that hit western Columbia recently, I knew this Columbian woman who told me she had not been able to contact relatives in that part of the country.  I have not talked with her recently, so I have no idea if her relatives are safe. Those tremors can take out power lines which power cell towers. ;)

In the 60s I was in St. Andrew church in middle of day. The glass in EXIT sign started shaking. I thought it was a bus going by on Addison St. When I got home later in afternoon, there, was a story on TV news there had been a 5.6 earthquake on the Sandwich fault SW of Chicago. That fault line is the most active in Chicago area. ;)
