Golden Eagle, one GENUINE kook that ClownPosse always ignored when they were around.

I have a SCSI drive that, at boot time, no longer appears when the SCSI adapter bios loads.

After Windows XP boots, if I do a Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager and then do Action > Scan for Hardware Changes, the system finds the drive.

Problem is that the drive doesn't appear in MyComputer.

The drive does have a problem. I'm hoping to copy its contents before it dies.

Sending it out for repair will result in a replacement.

Can any Linux version be helpful? Specifically, the "mount" command?

Microsoft is also making some of their code available to them as well. You know that guy has to work for Microsoft, no one else could take such ludicrous positions otherwise.

I saw this and wanted to send an update in case it has probably most likely was fixed 15yrs later :)

If you're having a problem with your files/programs with drives not showing up on your computer, that means the drive needs to be formatted. It can also be a corruption in windows xp and other versions of windows. I currently (2023) have a drive that originally came with my laptop that I bought in 2019 that went on me because of a virus file corruption. The reason the hard drive doesn't show up is because the program that connects the drive to the computer is messed up. You need to have a data recovery program access the drive to copy the files over to another drive. I can send you the recovery program that hasn't failed me yet if you want.

It's just a follow up message in case that problem shows up again with you and any other person who deals with it

To answer your question, Linux preferably a live version that they currently have can be used to transfer your files from your accessed windows area. You can in fact access windows from Linux. It'd be a good idea I advocate in case of a file corruption and hard drive corruption

I began using Linux in 2010 when I dumped windows when I met a blackhat through the internet when I hired him for a lot of illegal things that the cops refused to take care of. I met the guy when he decided to aid to take yahoo chat rooms off yahoo at the time

I'm an advocate of Linux because of windows, although I used windows 25% of the time because of a few programs I need.

Linux is frowned upon by people who slander progressive hackers. Linux is also frowned upon by public businesses example, if you're doing online stock exchange and currency investing, they will purposely block Linux from being used because Linux doesn't have a back door. That is why Linux can't be hacked and can't get viruses. I'm an advocate of Linux. I haven't had a problem with Linux in 13yrs

I'd love to try Linux, but doubt I'd get thru the learning curve -- and Windows 7 is still going strong.

Unfortunately, they've discontinued windows 7 updates. I haven't had an update on my windows 7 desktop in almost 7 years. They have them for windows 10 on my laptop, they want you to upgrade to windows 11 so they can discontinue windows 10. They're becoming predictable.

The few reasons why windows is still "Going strong" is because there are a lot of businesses who are banning Linux because windows has a back door (Remote control) while Linux doesn't. There are certain businesses who will let you on Linux, while other will block Linux because they can't throw you tracing and tracking cookies that Linux isn't exploitable to while windows lets them in to send you advertisements while the scripts are made to offer you malware in exchange for you doing business with them. If you notice, with certain website's, they'll block you from buying something through the "Buy now" .js (Java Script) coding because Linux knows it's malware. There are certain stock exchange providers who won't let you use Linux because the government and third party middle man (Market makers) providers can't spy on your short and long selling because Linux blocks java scripts that are malware.

I haven't been on facebook and twitter in 15yrs, I'm not surprised if they're going to block anti viruses/anti spyware/anti malware programs which causes you to be prevented to be on the media. The government doesn't want you to use Linux because it doesn't have a backdoor which is where they spy on you. Yet, at the same time, I'm curious about why they don't block Apple Macintosh's because they contain Linux criteria. Yet, also, I'm not surprised they don't block the apple IOS on the iphone and android because they don't contain Linux criteria.
