And now the city wants to start a new industrial park where a road was put in as a bypass when the bridge was replaced over a nearby railroad track.

When I drove a truck down to Florida, I got into a fight with my co- driver. I locked him out of the truck. He climbed up on the catwalk behind the tractor when I started to pull away and leave him there.

I called my ex-co-driver. He told me, "Don't stop in Kansas City. Keep going."

I called 9-11 on cell and arranged to meet the cops at a nearby exit. When I stopped he climbed down on the right hand side of truck and motioned me to come out. I said, "You better look behind you." The cops walked up on him. They made us bury the hatchet. He got back in the truck and told me, "Prepare yourself."

He was planning on kicking my ass. No way that was going to happen. So I pulled up in a Wal Mart in Springfield and called for the police. When I opened the sleeper door and awakened him, he saw the cops behind me and said, "You are a pussy." I told him, "That may be. But James (the boss) said he wants you out of the truck." We were based out of Niangua and he had to find a way to get there since that was an easy 100 miles away.

I wasn't going to get my ass kicked for any reason.

But a few months later, that guy was driving the same tractor me and my co-driver usually had. He was going thru a scalehouse in South Dakota. A dog keyed on the truck. They stopped him and climbed all over those boxes of flowers in the trailer.

The ran his I.D. and found out he had a warrant in Texas and had him extradited. It must have been a felony since they would not do that over a misdemeanor. I sure am glad I wasn't with him when that happened.

I bet they had a planned pick up of fresh frozen chickens in Nebraska since we picked up a load there once when I had a green kid with me. He missed a turn and almost ended up in Kansas. If I hadn't opened the sleeper curtain in time to see the sign, KANSAS STATE LINE 4 MILES he would have ended up there. I said to him, "How are you going to explain being in Kansas when you're not supposed to be there?"

It is like Hank, Jr. said, "I understand, perfectly." ;)
