That was a cool aircraft. (Next to the P-38 and P-51) The F-5 and T-38 trainer were the best lookin' jets, bar none.
(Edit) One of those vids makes it look like the props counter-rotate, but it could be a shutter speed effect.

The MDs told my wife I wasn't going to survive, and if I did, I'd be a braindead invalid.

There is a way to do it, but I need statement from my primary physician that I am capable of handling my own finances. Then Legal Aid in Joplin will send a lawyer to file on her.
Right now I am waiting for other shoe to drop on retired Conservator's Breach of Fiduciary Duty for opening a CD for $10,000 and short time later a medical bill came in. There was not enough in my account to pay it. She was forced to close CD early and take the penalty.
I am going to get back all the $30 monthly fees she took from me. Then she will be stuck paying court costs on top of it. ;)

I went over there and people were standing on chairs beating on each other. I started to wade into the crowd. I grabbed one guy by his right arm. He tried to turn on me to the left. I grabbed his left arm. He slipped because the floor was wet and I threw him down with a crash.
Everyone looked at me and I pointed while hollering, "Cool it, right now!"
They said, "It's cool."
The guy I threw down was apologizing to me the rest of the night.
I suppose that is how I got started in security. ROTFLOL

The gyroscopic forces were only part of the problem. The enormous weight of the rotaries would torque the airframe in the opposite direction. The engines weighed about as much as the rest of the airplane, metallurgy being what it was at the time. Sort of tail wagging the dog, or nose wagging the dog if the expression may be extended to tractor prop aircraft
It might not have been as big a problem as I was just thinking since the rotaries could not be revved up or idled, hence ran at a constant speed. Blipping would create same torque against airframe since engine is slowing down and speeding up, so it must have made landing these beasts quite interesting since blipping was generally used to reduce airspeed.

Grampa had been a B-17 Mechanic in the India/Burma theater, 1943-1945, so even back then I understood how important the B-17 was to him. I was like 11 when the aforementioned narrative unfolded. He really wanted to share that part of his life. I also remember he would tell us stories about British East Africa Troops stationed in India, and there may have been some cannibalism. He never bragged about anything he did, I think he just wanted us grandkids to understand that war is not glamorous.
When he came home from the war, he was an old man, at all of 26 years old. The deprivations had taken a toll on his body, and he was severely diabetic the rest of his life.
He lived to be 65, so I had the fortune of knowing him for the first 20 years of my life. If not for him, I never would have seen the inside of a B-17.
